Gita (18 chapters) has consistently related Vedic-2D-matrix positions to relate 'key-subject matters'! (Great sage Veda Vyasa has materially followed a usual manner that HE are "supreme/ in prime position-0")

How ancient Indian thinkers could grasp utility of 'before-units'-count so early is not easy to explain (though obvious reasons exist)! A-rule-based "language and number"-application had concurrently grown in ancient India, which is an obvious reason to it! Concerned rules had helped ancient Indians to memorize and relate Sanskrit-stances-linked public-knowledge', which still remain as it is (some 5000 years later than its first use)! 'Before-units'-count has 'sense' equivalent to 'a combined number-word sense'. A Sanskrit grammar that makes use of number-word sense has been used some 5000 years ago!

Let us logically analyze 'number-sense and language-sense'!

Usual Sanskrit grammars singular, dual and plural add number-sense to words, which concurrently fix a condition/meaning of sentence! Languages generally relate 'singular and plural'-word to sentences in a same manner. Either a number added in sentence (as condition) or (a before-units-condition)/number gives sense 'number is condition'!
