1949 November 28. Relating other digits to month-date is given in article cyclic-order. I served as a designer/ team leader in machine-tool and tool-engineering department of big companies. I have made huge number of 3-dimensional designs by 'a number-linking'! I prefer 'to observe and logically relate knowledge' to fix a cause and affect!
Need! You may wonder 'what Vedic Mathematics can do in an era of computers'. |

Children prefer to say one when they relate one, which is straightforward learning. Vedic Math's makes use of 'before-units'-count, which brings 'zero' prior to 'one'. It is unnatural! Technically a-zero eliminates need to use numbers less than zero, which is a great ancient Indian computing principle. In 21st century it is hidden-knowledge!
A manner to teach 'basic-computing principles of Vedic Mathematics to students by relating zero-start-matrixes' is ready now. My article "Vedic Mathematics is forever ©-2007 and this article VEDIC-MATRIX", together disclose how to use it and give a fair idea of Vedic computing principles. It is a very useful number-application/computing |

Object of site <www.vedicmatrix.org> is to spread "a unique-public-awareness" of 'Vedic-matrix and virtues' all over the world. Ongoing ideas that "Vedic Mathematics is not-scientific" and "perfect computing principles govern modern mathematics" has actually confused me! A modern computing principle imaginary (square root of minus one) is cause to it. Why single basic number has gone beyond human-imagining"? I feel, answer to it lay in 'factors that contributed' to an early zero-evolution in India! 'Concerned free-questions (1, 2, 3)' and my answers to it are given hereinafter! You may ask related questions or send your opinions relating 'zero' and 'less than zero numbers', which will help us to group a "unique-Vedic-Mathematics"! |

Visually learn and no "minus-number"! Sutras consistently reveal matrix-virtues. |

Why do you think matrix algebra is important? |
Reason is that, 'matrixes having row-column (yx) or layer-row-column (zyx) positions 0...9 or 00...99 or 000...999 or any higher order' relates computing in a unique manner. Essentially 'zero-start positions of each matrix' creates said 'unique computing possibility' by inter-linking all concerned matrix-positions!). Vedic mathematics promptly used said 'supreme matrix-virtue' as if it is 'Almighty theorem', whereas; matrix-algebra is yet to arrive there. Similarities do exist in between both said manners! |
Flexibility of Vedic-Mathematics can be attributed to matrix-by-matrix number relating. Concerned "Vedic-matrix-virtues" are Vedic-sutras! A difference of Algebra and Vedic-computing is that Algebra makes use of "zero" as well as "less than and more than zero numbers", whereas, Vedic mathematics relate "zero" and greater than zero numbers alone! So Vedic Mathematics is simpler than algebra (matrix-algebra)! |
Vedic-manner effortlessly relate/compute huge-number of merged row and column digits (creating concerned huge-digits answers). Matrix-algebra could be applied in a similar manner (by excluding minus-number relating). However concepts of matrix- algebra and Vedic mathematics should merge first, which will make matrix-algebra an important public-awareness (and it could grow as a greater utility-computing!) |

Exact definition of zero? |
By disintegrating 'a-unit' into infinitesimal-parts of it, we get infinite number of "least states"/ "parts of a-unit". Each said 'part of a-unit' is regarded equal and just above zero! Infinitesimal is a language-sense, which differs from user to user! So there is no chance to grasp unique 'a-zero' by relating to 'an infinitesimal-value'! Essentially modern computing principles greatly rely on infinitesimal-part of 'a-unit'! |
Ancient Indians used a great idea to grasp "a-zero". They imagined it as difference of two-equal-'a-units'. They carried it to day to day use as "before-units"-count! Equal a-units merging like two a-units ---> 2, three a-units ---> 3 or a higher, was the manner of doing it. Basically it is 'step by step increase' of a-unit! A step ahead of it lay a manner that counts before-units of 'one to one'/'digital count', which is Vedic manner!
A sense to 'before-units'-count is that 'number' is 'condition'. Principle of before-units count is that 'a second-position has a-unit before that' and first position has "no-unit" (zero) before that. Any whole number is "before-units" count of 2D/3D matrix position. |
Ancient Indians used principle "a-number is a-condition". Typical "zero-start 2D-square-matrix" was a tool to realize said principle! Said 'zero-start' of matrix created a natural platform to apply 'before-units'-count! A combination virtue of 'zero-start 2D-matrix and before-units count' is Vedic-sutra! Same sutra works in 3D-cube-matrix! |
Ancient Indians used Sanskrit with 'number-linked'-words (singular, dual and plural). Concerned grammars added 'rhythm' and tidy meaning ('number-word'-sense) in 'stances'. Same grammars have been used in epic-Ramayana, which reveals that 'Vedic- knowledge' is a compilation of past knowledge. It included ancient Indian 'before-units'-count and 'grammatical number-adding in sentences'! 'A number-sense' is 'a precise-condition' like 'condition of a matrix start-position' is "no"/ zero before-unit"! |
'Commonsense alone' is needed to assess if 'ancient Indians' had enough skill to "grasp and apply great virtues of zero"! A manner of using separate words for "singular, dual and plural" (and relating a concerned Sanskrit grammar to it) is ample proof that they perfectly knew how to carry a delicate-knowledge 'millenniums forward'! |

"Contribution" of ancient Indians to human-civilization reduces very much when 'zero' is subtracted from it. If Indians manage to sensibly relate Vedic-sutras and Vedic-matrix virtues, less-than-zero is 'an ancient Indian contribution' will not spread! Revival of Vedic Mathematics (by Shri Jagadguru Sankaracarya 1884-1960) was once in a blue moon event (that took place in 1911-1918). Though "Vedic-matrix" is not readable in Jagadguruji's later "VEDIC MATHEMATICS", subject matters of book reveal sense Vedic-matrix. Jagadguruji's 'lost 16-volumes Vedic-Mathematics manuscripts' and Vedic-matrix could have merged as 'perfect model of Vedic Mathematics' it ! |

What are the uses of matrix in our life? |
People think that matrix relates "higher mathematics", which is not "an easy to use public-awareness'. (An ancient Indian manner of computing makes use of simple matrix-positions-relating)! 'x', 'y' Cartesian 2D co-ordinate system too has greater public-utility, which relates 'one to any higher number-units' as 'column and row'-numbers!
There is a superior manner to use 2D-square-matrix positions by a merged-yx (row-y and column-x). Said merged-use is as old as Vedic-mathematics and 'a related number application' did exist in India some five thousand years ago. (It was causing a very early 'zero-based number application' in India)! Let us analyze concerned Vedic-matrix, which essentially relate merged a-units-count (digital) and before-units count.
Instead of a digital (one to one) count, VEDIC MATHEMATICS relates before-units count, (which is not publicly used now). A '2D-square-matrix start-position' has "no before-unit" of it. Said condition 'no' is zero. ('Y' and 'x')-zero-start positions of a 2D square-matrix create a-unit increasing (yx)-position-count. (Z, y and x)-Zero-start positions of a 3D cube-matrix create a similar (zyx)-position-count. Merged-'yx' or 'zyx' matrix-positions are countable as 'before-squares/cubes' of a concerned matrix!
Relation between computing and two and/or three-dimensional matrix-virtues are... |
Before-units count basically relates 'a-unit step'-digital numbers, which had carried 'zero' to usual number applications in India (well before a compiling of four Vedas!) |
Digital numbers are used in computers. We can grasp "digital / whole-number-steps" and "before-units"-count (by relating 2D-square-matrix positions). 'Zero-starts of matrix' and "before-units"-count prove that a related 'Vedic-computing' is simpler. Indian mathematicians have not simplified it any further in past five thousand years! |
Counting 'before-unit of a-zero' is not sensible! Positive-number-counts in Vedic matrix 0...9 or 00...99, or a higher order are 'real and easy to grasp. It mainly helps us either to grasp fundamental physical states (by before-units count) or to compute! |
Computing by relating "numbers less than zero" is not a 'bare need'. "Few Vedic sutras" relate subtraction (simple minus-sense), whereas, any sutra does not reveal "numbers less than zero"-relating! Minus-number is mandatory need of a Cartesian co-ordinate system. Essentially 'a concurrent-use of plus and minus'-number is complex, which hardly get publicized in a true sense! Less than zero is not ancient Indian! |
Users of computing fear to concurrently use positive and negative numbers. 'It shifts number-relating base from 'a-zero' to 'a non-zero number', which unsettles a user-mind. "Any more digits plus number" can be instantly grasped by linking it to a-zero. Said "use of plus-numbers alone" is "practical-strength of Vedic Mathematics"! 'Visual computing possibility' (by looking at 2D-square-matrix) is equally great. |
We can do computing either by linking 2D-square or to 3D-cube-matrix positions. However, ('z', 'y' and x)-zero-start positions and 'before-units'-count are essential! |
+, -, x, -:-, = and square-root "signs" reveal a concerned 'logical 2D-matrix-link'. Vedic-sutra is virtue of zero-start 2D-matrix. Sutra and signs together reveal principle of Vedic computing. People had ignored multifaceted-matrix but not signs and sutras! |
"Before-units"-count of a zero-start 2D square-matrix-position is equal to "merged yx-number" of that position! Vedic sutras relate concerned computing principles'. It is well known that people prefer language "to transfer knowledge" from generation to generation, which efficiently worked for more than 5000 years in India! Fact is that number-sense has concurrently worked to make 'said knowledge-transfer' a success! |
Computation possibilities are too huge! 'A very small part of it' excels as "public-awareness! Vedic-sutras and Vedic-'2D-square and 3D-cube matrix'-virtues, reveal great inter-relations. We cannot ignore a fact that 'number and language' works together and that Vedic-manner is 'simpler, compact, unique and superior' knowledge! |
